User Experience Design

The end-user is the final judge of our work

We understand that people are at the core of our business. We design and build websites and web applications to enable end-users... Period. We begin by identifying our clients' objectives, conduct an industry specific analysis, and collaborate in the design of a website that ultimately serves some set of users with some set of abilities. The user, therefore, is the final standard with which to judge the quality of our work and the effectiveness of our process.

User experience can make or break your website or application

If a website is unorganized, unattractive, or faulty visitors simply won't use it. Whether your goal is to market a product or service or deliver a software solution online, the success of virtually all our projects relies on the users' experience. We believe that the best and only way to build Web solutions is with a user-centric approach. This is how we demonstrate our shared interest in your success online.

An E-commerce example of an effective user experience

To illustrate the importance of quality user-experience, consider an e-commerce website selling widgets to a specific market segment. In researching consumer behavior in online shopping scenarios, we discovered that the biggest problem online retailers are having is with abandoned shopping carts: when a user adds a product to their cart, proceeds to checkout, and then leaves the site without submitting their order.

Because of the typical checkout process, online customers can experience a range of negative emotions when submitting their electronic order:

  • The inconvenience of filling out a comprehensive form.
  • Discomfort with sharing private information (i.e. email address).
  • Concerns about privacy and security.
  • Uncertainty as to the final price of the order including tax and shipping.
  • Every time we build an e-commerce checkout form, therefore, we pay special attention to construct a checkout process that is as quick and intuitive as possible for the user meanwhile building trust and credibility with privacy statements and trusted security seals.

We utilize rich internet technologies to command higher user participation

By utilizing RIA technologies, we can reduce the size of lengthy online forms to just a single page in many cases thereby commanding a much higher participation rate from users. Without getting too technical, the heart of this lies in removing the "page-refresh" from the user's experience. In typical web-interfaces, the user's screen must flash, or refresh, every time new data is submitted or retrieved. With AJAX, we can valet information from the server in real-time without interrupting the user's experience. This makes for a much more intuitive interface and ultimately happier end-users.
