The Collaborative Law Institute of Minnesota is a collaborative practice group of about 200 members practicing throughout the state of Minnesota. The group needed a database driven website to manage their member organization and to support their public awareness campaign.

Resources for the Public

The site offers the public a range of resources for both new and returning visitors. A public user's primary role in the site is to search through the member database of attorneys, financial professionals, mediators, child specialists and psychological professionals. They can search by name, practice county and/or profession. Visitors searching by location can also use an interactive map to select a region of Minnesota to refine their search.

Resources for the Members
The following list describes the capabilities and resources available to the member collaborative professionals:
Login to a private site using an email address and a private password. If a member has forgotten their password, they can request a reminder which is delivered via email.
Access organization wide news and announcements published by the website owner.
View an event calendar where the group posts upcoming meetings, trainings and seminars.
Update their extensive public profile which appears when users search for a professional. Members are free to update items such as their contact information, their photograph, collaborative law training, and professional background.
Access a dynamic document-sharing page where the site administrator can upload any type of file and/or article. The group uses this area to share meeting minutes and practice aides.

The outcome?
The site has significantly contributed to the public awareness campaign that aims at spreading the use of collaborative practice as an alternative to traditional divorce proceedings throughout Minnesota. The site provides both consumers and practitioners with a wealth of useful information about collaborative law.
